Scott Chappelear is an award-winning sportswriter with 16 years of experience. He began his career at the Gloucester County Times and Today's Sunbeam in 2000, and covered high school, college and pro sports for those publications as well as the News of Cumberland County, which then merged into the South Jersey Times. Scott was with the Times until September 2014.
He is best known for his work in high school football, girls basketball and baseball, but has also been a beat writer for girls soccer, girls tennis and swimming and has covered just about every sport competed in South Jersey. He has also produced written and video content for nj.com, and developed and produced the Football Forecast page for nearly a decade. He won New Jersey Press Association awards for Scholastic Sports Portfolio in 2010, 2011 and 2013. In addition to his journalism work, he's also done television work for Comcast Channel 5 and GCEN as both a studio and color analyst.
He holds a BA in Communications from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
