After one season, Bean commits to Penn

Sophomore-to-be will play baseball for Philadelphia-based Ivy League school after graduating in 2017

According to a story at, rising sophomore Brendan Bean has given a verbal commitment to play baseball at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia after he graduates from Wildwood High School in 2017.

Bean is a North Wildwood resident and just turned 15 last month. The coaching staff at Penn, led by head coach John Yurkow (a former Rowan player and assistant coach who played his high school ball at Gloucester Catholic), has been following Bean for some time.

Bean, who hit .404 as freshman at Wildwood, informed Penn of his commitment last weekend.
