Phillies field reporter to appear at fundraising Happy Hour at Botto's

Comcast SportsNet’s Phillies broadcaster Gregg Murphy will once again bicycle the 65 miles from Philadelphia to Atlantic City to raise money for the Irish Pub Children’s Foundation in the Irish Pub Tour de Shore. But first he'll be appearing in Swedesboro tonight to help raise money for "Team Murphy."

The Irish Pub Tour de Shore, celebrating its 27th year, is an annual bike ride across South Jersey that raises money for Delaware Valley Police and Children’s Charities. Gregg Murphy, an active board member of the Irish Pub Children’s Foundation, supports the ride by emceeing the after party in Atlantic City and by championing the event’s second largest bike team. The team raised over $20,000 last year and had just over 100 riders. “I am thrilled to take part in this event for the ninth year in a row.” says Gregg Murphy. “My first ‘team’ started back in 2005 and consisted of myself and my neighbor. This year, we’re looking at over 150 riders and my goal is to raise at least $25,000.” With riders registering fast, Gregg Murphy is well on his way to reaching that goal.
In addition to the bike ride on July 27, there are a number of fundraising events that Gregg Murphy takes part in to support the event and his team.

The “Team Murphy Annual Fundraising Happy Hour” will take place on Monday, June 9, at Botto’s Italian Line in Swedeboro, NJ.

‘Murph’, a South Jersey native and Holy Cross High School grad, enjoys throwing this happy hour every year at Botto’s, where friends, family, neighbors and Irish Pub Tour de Shore supporters all come out to raise money for the team. Last year, through raffles and live auction items, the event raised enough to cover the cost of “Team Murphy’s” jerseys for each team member and donate a significant amount directly to the Irish Pub Children’s Foundation. The fundraising happy hour starts at 6pm and will feature drink specials, DJ Bomber Bennett, and a large list of raffle prizes, featuring items from all of the Philadelphia sports teams. There will also be a number of other “special guests” bartenders that night, to be announced at a later date.
The Irish Pub Tour de Shore will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2014, and is gearing up to have over 2,000 bicyclists. Since its inception, the ride has raised over $3,500,000 with proceeds supporting the Delaware Valley Police charities that include the FOP Survivor’s Fund, the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia, the FOP of South Jersey, the Sgt. Patrick McDonald Scholarship Fund and The Daniel Faulkner Educational Grant Fund.
Riders for Team Murphy are still welcome and can register at
