CHESTER, PA – The Rowan University women’s basketball team had an 85-76 loss in overtime at Widener University.
Guard Grace Marshall made two foul shots and hit a three-pointer to give the Profs a 74-72 lead with 2:52 left in the fourth quarter. Widener center Kyra Schenk sank a jumper at 2:06 and sent the game into overtime.
Marshall’s basketball (3:22) tied the score at 76. The Pride answered with nine straight points for the victory. Widener is undefeated with a 5-0 record and Rowan is 3-1 overall.
Marshall finished with a game-high 27 points. Guard/forward Eliana Santana recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. She also dished six assists. Guard Alexis Kriley contributed with 11 points.
Schenk led the Pride with 21 points and nine boards. Guard Madison Ireland scored 17 points and guard Devan Rimmer followed with 16. Guard Jordan D’Ambrosio chipped in with 13 points.
Schenk had a layup at the end of the third to lead 61-60 going into the fourth quarter. The Profs scored five straight points to go ahead 65-61 with 6:43 on the clock. Guard Savanna Holt made two foul shots and Marshall drilled a three. Widener pulled within one point (67-66) then Santana hit a jumper (4:26). D’Ambrosio made two points at the line (4:00) and Rimmer had two jumpers (3:43, 3:12) for a 72-69 advantage before Marshall’s five points.
