GLASSBORO, NJ – The second ranked Rowan University field hockey team scored seven straight goals in a 7-2 win against Stevenson University.
Midfielder Kristiina Castagnola and forward Kystyna Hovell each contributed with two goals. Forward Bridget Guinan chipped in with one goal and two assists. Forward Alyssa Magliaro totaled one goal and one assist. Midfielder Morgan Mulvey added one goal and forward Bridget Boyle had an assist.
The Profs are undefeated with a 6-0 record and the Mustangs are 2-6 on the season. Morgan Novak, Aida Ingram and Abby Hainsworth shared the goaltending duties. Rowan ended the game with 17 shots and 11 penalty corners. Stevenson took nine shots and had three corners.
Rowan was ahead 6-0 after two quarters. Castagnola and Hovell had one goal apiece in the first period. Guinan assisted on both goals. In the second, Guinan, Castagnola, Mulvey and Magliaro all hit the cage one time. Hovell scored the Profs’ final tally in the third quarter. Stevenson’s goals came in the final stanza. Back Jean Hart produced the Mustangs’ first goal on a penalty corner with an assist from forward Brooke Morris. Forward Emma Adams knocked in a rebound for the second.
Men's Soccer: Hendrickson scores a pair as No. 17 Rowan ties with Haverford
HAVERFORD, PA - Junior Matt Hendrickson scored two goals, including the equalizer with 24 seconds left in regulation, to help the 17th-ranked Rowan University men’s soccer team force a 2-2 overtime draw with Haverford College. The Profs are now 4-1-2.
With the Profs trailing 1-0 in the first half, Hendrickson scored his first goal of the year at 44:36. After the home team regained the lead at 53:49, Hendrickson scored his second goal at the identical time in the second half, taking a pass from freshman Jake Logar for the equalizer.
Nick Jannelli opened the scoring for Haverford just two minutes into the contest and then assisted on the Fords’ second goal, which was scored by Rodrigo Zuniga.
Rowan outshot the Fords, 25-16, while Profs’ goalkeeper James Weinberg made four saves.
Women's Soccer: Rowan falls to Arcadia, 1-0
GLENSIDE, PA – The Arcadia University women’s soccer team had a 1-0 win over visiting Rowan University.
After a scoreless first half, midfielder Karlie Flowers scored the game-winner at 75:17. The Knights are unbeaten with a 7-0-1 record and the Profs are 3-3 on the season. For the Profs, goalkeeper Bristol Pizzuto made five saves.
This week, Rowan is ranked eighth in the United Soccer Coaches South Atlantic Region Poll while Arcadia is fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
